The initiative, dubbed Mastercard Agent Pay, leverages AI assistants like Microsoft’s Copilot to streamline product discovery and checkout processes.
Shoppers can now delegate tasks to AI—such as searching for specific items like "a pair of yellow running shoes in size 9"—while retaining final approval over purchases. The system autonomously selects payment methods but requires user consent before completing transactions.
